An online photo archive for the Clonoe area has been launched, creating a fascinating insight into the way we were.
Clonoe Gallery, a Facebook community page, allows users to browse photos chronicling the history of the area.
The webpage, modelled on the successful Ardboe Gallery Facebook page, aims to build up an archive of old photos and from the parish through the decades.

Facebook users are being urged to join the page and contribute material, from newspaper clippings to old photos and stories from the past.
The Clonoe Gallery has been set up by a mystery Aughamullan man, who has kept his identity secret to ensure the site is “seen as belonging to the community”.

“How often do we come across a photo of families that no one can recognise because they are long gone and no one ever thought of writing their names on the back?” He said.
“I must have a dozen of these myself. I would hope in the long term that people will want their past remembered and would contribute material for posting.”

He added: “I have collected a bit of material over the years, and I reckoned that these were not doing much good lying in an old briefcase so I decided why not share with people that I know would get a lot of pleasure from seeing old classmates, neighbours and relations from times passed.”
