New book to chart Coalisland memories

History and memories of Coalisland are to be chronicled in a new book being launched this week.

The Faire Field, by James Walshe and Wilfred Dilworth, will be launched on Wednesday, November 14.

It will examine subjects such as Coalisland Canal and Coalisland china, and will also include Patrick Hughes’ memories of old Coalisland.

Mountjoy Fort, Anketell’s prose and verse, early potteries, Blacker and the School Lands will also be covered.

The book will be publicly launched at the Cohannon Inn on Wednesday, November 14 at 8pm.

Roddy Hegarty, vice chairman of the Federation of Irish Historical Studies, will be the guest speaker at the event.
