You can’t stop the beat! CRAIC youth theatre performs musical flash mob in Dungannon – video

Young people from CRAIC Youth Theatre filled the Oaks Centre in Dungannon to surprise shoppers with an energetic flash mob performance.

The excited group were caught on video yesterday (April 28) as they performed popular tunes from musicals Hairspray, We Will Rock You and Mamma Mia at the entrance to the Sainsbury’s supermarket.

The performance was staged to promote CRAIC Theatre’s latest homegrown production, Make Mine A Musical, which takes place from Wednesday 2 May to Saturday 5 May.

Tunes from Fame, Westside Story, Sweeney Todd, Wicked, and Les Miserables will all be performed by a hardworking cast of more than 100 young people.

CRAIC’s Oliver Corr said the show was particularly important in order to showcase a more positive side to life in Coalisland following highly publicised fears over the town’s drugs problems.

He said on Facebook: “Coalisland has been in the media headlines recently for bad news stories about drugs and their effects. This is the more positive side to life in our town and we would urge everyone to come along and support and encourage them.”

He added: “If you enjoy songs from the classics of musical theatre then the CRAIC Youth Theatre has a treat in store for you.”

Make Mine A Musical will take place at CRAIC Theatre between Wednesday 2 May and Saturday 5 May at 8pm.
