Derrytresk players suspended after semi-final brawl

Derrytresk’s hopes of an All Ireland victory have been dealt a major blow as GAA officials have reportedly suspended eight players following a pitch-side brawl during the team’s semi-final game.

Cameras caught an ugly clash between players from both Derrytresk and Kerry’s Dromid Pearses during the All Ireland Junior Club semi-final game in Portlaoise on January 22.

Teamtalkmag say four of the starting team and four substitutes have received bans that will see them miss the All Ireland Final on February 12. The club have also been fined 5,000 euro by the CCCC.

Kerry side Dromid have reportedly had three players suspended – one for five months – and have been given a 2000 euro fine.

Derrytresk are said to have enlisted Stewartstown solicitor and former Tyrone county player Feargal Logan to help appeal against the decision, according to the Ulster Herald.
