Minor Football

The minors travelled to Pairc Thir na nog to play the Moy in the opening game of the minor league. Brackaville started the game well winning the throw in and Rian McHugh putting Tiernan McGlinchey through for the opening point. The Moy quickly equalised before Rian McHugh restored the lead for Brackaville. Ronan Fox then stretched that lead to two with a well worked move involving Che O’Donnell. Moy then began to win the midfield battle and soon they had scored four points without reply to take a three point lead. Moy in this period of dominance wasted a lot of good opportunities to put the game away and let Brackaville pull back the game back to a point between the sides before the half time whistle with scores from Tiernan McGlinchey and a Martin Gervin free.

The second half began with Moy going back into a two point lead but it was the same story as the first half as again they missed good chances when they were through on the Brackaville goalkeeper three times missing badly on each occasion.

Mickey Casey then made an outstanding block to deny the Moy another chance to extend their lead.

With the introduction of Martin McCann Eddie Quinn and Dale McSorley the Brackaville team started to take over and control the game. Martin McCann was outstanding in the middle of the field with Dale McSorley going on to put in a man of the match display as Brackaville made their dominance pay. Scores from Martin Gervin from the dead ball and Che O’Donnell put Brackaville back two in front before a Tiernan McGlinchey goal put Brackaville into a comfortable position. Moy scored two points to bring the score back to a goal but Brackaville finished the game off with scores from Che O’Donnell Dale McSorley and a Martin Gervin free. Moy then finished by scoring the last two points to leave a final score Moy 0-11 Brackaville 1.12.

All in all it was a great performance by the Roes who dug deep when necessary with great performances from Aiden Harrington Eddie Quinn in the back line Martin McCann Che O’Donnell and Tiernan McGlinchey in the second half. Though it must be mentioned that the introduction of Dale McSorley changed the game somewhat in the Roes favour as Dale stamped his authority immediately

U14 Football

The young Roes suffered their 1st and a heavy defeat to an unbeaten and good Killeeshill team at home on Saturday afternoon. Missing several keys players, this was always going to be a huge ask and the team deserve huge credit for perseverance right to the final whistle. Daniel Talbot in goals had a great hour with some point blank and close range saves, Brian Casey, Cormac Mackle and Conor Stock worked hard throughout, while our scores came from Padraig Louhran (1:1), Jamie Devlin (0:3) and Eoin Loughran (1:0). Team; D. Talbot;  P. Gervin; O. Linden; S. Anderson; S. Coney; B. Casey; E. Loughran; C. Stock; C. Mackle; P. Loughran; J. Devlin. Championship next Saturday at home to Omagh ‘B, times and details given out at training on Tuesday 6.30pm
