Coalisland canal to feature in Irish-language TV show

Coalisland canal is to be featured in a rural Irish-language TV programme next year.

The on-going regeneration of the town’s waterway will be discussed during the second series of Luí Na Talún, or Lay of The Land, set to be broadcast on BBC Two Northern Ireland in 2012.

BBC radio presenter Lynette Fay has spoken to Dungannon councillor and fluent Irish speaker Jim Cavanagh, along with Coalisland canal chairman James Walshe.

Footage will show the pair speaking about Coalisland canal and the efforts made to regenerate the waterway.

The programme is being created by production company Below The Radar, who have previously produced documentaries on SDLP politician John Hume and Bloody Sunday.
