More than 130 youngsters have taken part in each day of Ógras Youth Club’s annual summer scheme in Coalisland.
Children between the ages of seven and 11 took part in the three-week event, held at the Parochial Centre in the town.
Activities including arts and crafts, cookery classes and movie afternoons were held in the centre, while children also took part in a series of trips.
Young people aged 12 and over have also been involved in the youth club’s senior summer scheme, which began on Monday, August 8.
Leo Quinn, leader in charge of Ogras Centre, said: “We at the club have been overwhelmed with the number of young kids aged between seven and 11 years old who have availed of the opportunity to enjoy the summer scheme.
“We have had over 130 kids every day and are delighted that the local community has come out in such great numbers to support us.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all involved for giving us this wonderful chance to give something back in these times.”
The summer scheme went ahead this year after funding was secured from the Department for Social Development’s Neighbourhood Renewal Fund.
MLA Francie Molloy, chairman of the Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership, said: “I am delighted that we were able to support the Ogras summer scheme which again has been a huge success.
“This shows that we as a Partnership are committed to supporting worthwhile projects for the benefit of all the people living within the Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal area.”
More than £1.2m has been committed to the Coalisland area from the Neighbourhood Renewal Investment Fund since 2007.
Coalisland’s neighbourhood renewal area includes Innishmore, Mount Cairn, Ardmore, Newtownkelly and Gortgonis.
