Horrid Henry and David Walliams among Coalisland Library’s most borrowed books

  • Most borrowed books, DVDs and CDs revealed

Horrid Henry and a children’s book by comedian David Walliams are among the most borrowed books at Coalisland Library, new figures reveal.

Horrid Henry topped the list of the most borrowed books from Coalisland Library during 2011.

Books featuring the mischievous character, created by author Francesca Simon, also claimed fourth and seventh places in the top 10 most borrowed list.

The top 10 is made up entirely of children’s literature, including Billionaire Boy at number nine – a book by Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams.

The borrowing figures, which also show the most borrowed DVDs, CDs and audio books, were revealed to Coalisland Post through a Freedom of Information request to Libraries NI.

Superhero Spider-man proved most popular in the library’s DVD section, with the web-slinger’s animated series being issued 12 times over the course of last year.

Films and TV shows aimed at families and children dominated the DVD rankings, with Mr Bean, Hannah Montana, SpongeBob Squarepants and Scooby Doo all favourites among Coalisland’s library users.

But the town showed an eclectic mix of tastes in the CD stakes.

Popstar Miley Cyrus, rock legends the Rolling Stones, and Donegal crooner Daniel O’Donnell all feature in the town’s most borrowed CD list.
