Derrytresk players have helped launch a GAA campaign on road safety ahead of an awareness event next week.

The Live to Play road safety campaign, designed and co-ordinated by Ulster GAA in conjunction with Tyrone County Committee, aims to raise awareness of road safety by showing members how best to stay safe.

A campaign spokesman said: “Many of our clubs have been directly impacted by fatalities caused by road traffic accidents.

“Whilst the full impact of Live to Play will never be known, the implementation of the programme into Tyrone clubs is a positive step for us in GAA in doing what we can to reduce the carnage on our roads, particularly amongst our young members.”

Road safety educators, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and officers from the PSNI will take part in a campaign awareness event for club members aged 16 and over at Derrytresk GAA, on Monday 23 April at 7pm.

Call Cuthbert Donnelly on 07803150347 or Ciaran McLaughlin on 07894642984 for more details.

UPDATE: The Live to Play event in Derrytresk has been postponed until mid-May.
