Profile of Dutch band performing at Coalisland International Music Festival

Tutti SaxiAs the name suggests, the Coalisland International Music Festival brings together instrumental groups from across the world to play in our town, of all places. We take a look at one band flying over today – ash cloud permitting – all the way from the Netherlands to be part of the festival.

Tutti Saki street band from Utrecht – a city of Holland no less. It plays saxophone music in a South American style, showcasing vibrant salsa and mambo melodies.

The band publicly rehearses every Monday evening, allowing music lovers to watch them practice and perform.

The group use four different types of saxophone – baritone, tenor, alto and soprano – to help create their distinct sound.

Here is a video of one of their performances to give you a taster of their music – and their pension-shuffle dance moves. Visit their website for more information, photo galleries and the opportunity to buy their tunes online – but you may need to speak Dutch.
