Winter wonderland charity event this weekend

Charity Cancer Choices is to hold its annual Winter Wonderland fundraising event at the weekend.

The charity event will take place on Sunday, December 16 at Peatlands Park from 11am to 4.30pm.

Santa will be arriving in style with his reindeer and sleigh and families will be able to visit him in his grotto and feed the reindeer.

Youngsters can make sure their letter to Santa gets the “first-class” treatment with a special postbox.

Phil’s Farm will give children the chance to see animals including micro pigs, giant rabbits, Shetland ponies, baby deer and wallabies.

Activities and entertainment will also include face-painting, balloon artists, magic shows and story-telling. There also will be elves, pixies, Minnie Mouse and a live crib.

An arts and crafts fair will showcase some of the finest local craftspeople, with unique jewellery, knitwear, handcrafted wood and homemade sweets on offer.

And a silver band and carol singers will providing music to make sure everyone is fully in the festive spirit.

All the children’s activities, visits to Santa and the arts and crafts fair will be held inside the main education and visitor centre at Peatlands.

Entrance to the park is free but there will be a nominal charge for the activities in Winter Wonderland.
